Overview:
When we were approached by CRFP to pitch for the
design and development of their online register,
we were faced with competition from some major design
companies. We knew that the pitch would have to
cater to CRFP's specific needs comprehensively.
In order to establish our understanding of their
requirements, we submitted some design concepts
along with our preliminary proposal, and presented
them a site architecture that takes care of their
current and future needs.
Having won the contract, we had further discussions
and set about fine-tuning our proposal. CRFP would
be the premier regulatory body set-up to promote
public confidence in forensic practice in the UK,
and would bring together a wide range of professional
groups working in one integral process. The importance
of its role, and the inherent security aspects that
it entails made us device a foolproof and self-sufficient
system that makes CRFP as independent as possible
in managing its online affairs, without the involvement
of third parties (including Design2).
Functionality:
The client would be able to:
•
monitor their site's activity
•
securely edit content of the
web site and keep it up-to-date
•
invite applications from forensic
experts and organisations
•
amend the application pack to
suit their needs
•
enable
and revalidate memberships
•
generate membership certificates
•
perform marketing-related activities
from the online database
In order to achieve the
above, Design2 had to beat a path on some uncharted
territories, as there was no ready-made single solution
that took care of all their needs at once. The site
was completed as per schedule and launched to wide
acclaim.
This project not only helped us provide a satisfactory
solution to the client while maintaining costs to
a minimum, it has also helped us gain recognition
among the forensic and professional science fraternity.
Design2's involvement included site architecture,
strategic consulting, design, development, hosting,
and online promotion.
"Design 2 showed from the outset a strong appreciation
of the type of organisation we are. This greatly
speeded the process of design and led to the preparation
of a site which clearly represents our values, our
culture and our corporate image. The design has
won praise from our directors and other stakeholders
in our work. It is quick and easy to navigate, readily
updated by our staff and, through the links we are
developing to other sites, provides a sound platform
on which to build a comprehensive web picture of
the environment in which we are working."
